Canoe skills courses

Active Outdoor Pursuits has been operating from Craigower Lodge in Newtonmore since 1999, a Cairngorms base rather than west coast. Their canoe skills courses run one and two days, positioned as preparation for their Great Glen Canoe Trail expedition rather than a stand-alone qualification.

They're set up for beginners: safety and technical kit is provided, and the pitch is that someone with little or no canoe experience can build up to a full multi-day expedition safely. Instruction can also lead toward British Canoeing star awards for those who want the qualification pathway.
