near Aberfeldy, PerthshireSteven and Hannah Knight co-founded Wilderness Folk School, based in Aberfeldy, Scotland. The traditional craft strand runs alongside their bushcraft and expedition programmes and shares the same stated ethos: connection to nature through hands-on participation, using local materials wherever possible.
Named crafts include green oak timber framing (structural woodwork using local timber), canoe building (wood and canvas construction), paddle making, and basketry and hidework (traditional fibre and leather work). Each craft runs as its own dedicated course rather than being bolted onto a general bushcraft day.
The through-line is sustainable practice and connection to place through the material itself. What you make on a course leaves with you, but the point sits underneath: knowing how to make it rather than owning the object.
Source note: specific course durations, group sizes and seasonal availability are not published on the homepage.
