Wilderness expeditions

Steven and Hannah Knight co-founded Wilderness Folk School, based in Aberfeldy, Scotland. Their wilderness expeditions run alongside the bushcraft and traditional craft strands, and partner with specialised outdoor guides.

Expeditions target spectacular environments with unique challenges and learning opportunities: the site names winter skills expeditions and tracking expeditions specifically. Frame is nature-based immersion learning rather than adventure tourism; the same folk school ethos applies.

Format is field-based: what the environment demands is what the day covers. Skills strands from the bushcraft and craft programmes carry across, but the expeditions treat the ground as the syllabus.
